Dave's Tech Philosophy: Everyone should be a CD burner

I've been a computer user for 18 years. That means I started with MS-DOS 3.0 and know every twist and turn of tech since then. I've got an engineering degree from UC Berkeley and enough troubleshooting experience to last a lifetime.

What do I do with this background? I help people on the San Francisco peninsula get more out of their technology.

Now, I fix a lot of problems for a lot of people and it's a great feeling. I really enjoy helping people out of a jam. What's even more exciting, however, is helping people expand their tech horizons.

For example, many people have computers with CD burners and have never burned a single CD! I'd like to change that. I want every man, woman, and child to burn not just CDs, but DVD's. And I want people burning HD-DVD's the second they come out!

Now you may ask, "Dave. Not everybody needs to burn CDs!" and that's not really a question but I understand what you're saying.

I guess I should say that I want people to feel comfortable enough with their technology to try to burn a CD, create a nice home video, or even demand better sales reports. If I'm reaching, I have another solution. Let me take care of the problem.

We all depend on our technology to get things done whether it's finding recipes online or being able to run our mission-critical retail computer system.

My goal is to help people realize the benefits of technology without the headaches. That way we can all focus on what we're good at. For me it's computers, for you it's your soon-to-be-first-place peach cobbler, your auto shop or your promising new investment.
